International openEHR BarCamp Berlin – January 2026

The German openEHR Modeling Group, in cooperation with the HIGHmed Association,
invites you to participate in the International openEHR BarCamp Berlin, taking place in
January 2026.

This two-day event offers an open and collaborative environment for exchanging ideas,
experiences, and best practices in openEHR modeling and implementation.

What to Expect

International Expertise:
Renowned openEHR trainers and leading experts will share their insights on digital health,
interoperability, and data standards.

Community-Oriented Format:
Following the BarCamp concept, participants actively contribute to shaping the agenda
through workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions.

Diverse Program:
The event includes keynotes, practical sessions, and opportunities for in-depth dialogue and
collaboration on current topics in openEHR and clinical information modeling.

Speakers

  • Prof. Dr. Antje Wulff – Chair of Big Data in Medicine at Carl von Ossietzky University
    Oldenburg and HiGHmed Site Representative. Her research focuses on the
    standardization, exchange, and use of medical and research data to support AI-
    driven clinical decision-making.
  • Heidi Koikkalainen – Director and Senior Health & Social Care Informatics Specialist
    at freshEHR, specializing in openEHR clinical modeling and international data
    standards.
  • Ian McNicoll – Director at freshEHR Clinical Informatics and former Co-Chair of
    openEHR International, with more than 35 years of experience in digital health and a
    long-standing commitment to standards-based healthcare innovation.
  • Joost Holslag – Medical doctor and health informatics specialist focusing on openEHR modeling, data reuse, and user-centered design of medical interfaces.

Whether you are an experienced openEHR professional or wish to deepen your
understanding of open digital health standards, this BarCamp offers both practical knowledge
and opportunities for professional exchange.
